DiMarzio BC-1 Billy Corgan Neck White Pickup

The unique sound of the Dimarzio DP225 BC1 Neck Pickup was specifically requested by Billy Corgan. To achieve this, the frequency response of one coil in each pickup was lowered slightly to enhance the bass notes and bring out the mid-range tones. This adjustment created a deeper sound with the desired punch that Billy was looking for.

When collaborating with Billy Corgan on his signature Strat pickups, DiMarzio provided him with various models to test out. Among these, Billy favored the Air Norton S for the neck, Chopper for the middle, and Tone Zone S for the bridge positions. After using them at several performances, Billy requested modifications to the neck and bridge pickups. He wanted a richer sound from the lower strings without sacrificing power and clarity, especially when using high-gain amplifiers.

In response to Billy's feedback, DiMarzio fine-tuned the pickups by selectively lowering the frequency response of one coil in each to boost bass frequencies and enhance mid-range tones. The result is the DiMarzio DP225 BC1, a ceramic neck pickup now featured in Billy's signature Fender Stratocaster.
